The Stig
We have a symbol we use often. Most of the time we need to modify the text, so we explode it change the single letter of text. Is there a way for us to be able to change the letter of text from the command line after we place it in the drawing. Here is the Macro code ^C^C-LAYER SET M-CONT-THER ORTHO ON -INSERT RDI-HVAC-THERMOSTAT \!DSCALE;;
ReMark
A symbol that includes text. Why not make the text an attribute?
The Stig
That would work but its almost as tedious as placing the symbol, exploding, then editing the letter. Being a "noob" to autocad I might be misunderstanding you on the attribute.
BlackBox
Perhaps it would be prudent for you to become more familiar with How to Attach Data to Blocks (Block Attributes).
SLW210
_ATTDEF on the commandline. Use verify for the mode and you will be prompted for the value on insertion (I believe its verify, not sure). Use help in autocad on ATTRIBUTES.
The Stig
Thanks everyone lol yup I misunderstood what attributes were. ReMarks sig says it all... "I have only come here seeking knowledge. Things they wouldn't teach me of in college." The Police ...I was taught Revit and now using cad.
BlackBox
...I was taught Revit and now using cad. You're going to love LISP... more specifically, not being relegated to using (only) the .NET API.
BIGAL
Also Double click the attribute if already inserted it will pop up an edit box so you can change it no need to explode.
