Object Attribute Automation

Hello,

I am trying to identify a way that I can associate an object to another object.

Example: I have a "sensor" object on my tool pallet. When I select the sensor and drag it onto my drawing I get a few attribute prompts that I enter information into. In addition to entering information at prompts I would like to mouse click an object/block (say machine part) that is already on the drawing and have an attribute on the sensor block be populated with the machine parts name.

 

I am a beginner at this customization and automation process so please don't go over my head. I've done a fair amount of reading and this seems to be possible, just need a little help. Thanks in advanced.

Can be done with lisp etc probably go to words on screen pick block insert pt then pick other block to copy stuff from then more attribute entry then actually insert the block.

 

Or can be done block already inserted pick it first then pick other block and update this method has an advantage can be done anytime to update a block.

 

So probably one program but two parts. Lots of posts here about getting and putting attributes. I have done this and posted VBA here pick block or text but update another block based on first pick.

 

Lee Mac has a do all block routine I would suggest start there.
