CAD-B Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) I'm a new at CAD Tutor but have been using autocad since R12 for DOS, I'm currently using AutoCAD 2011 MEP. I received a file from an architect and the attributes don't burst and when I xref the file in to my drawing they don't show up. When I list the text, it says it is an 'Attribute Definition' but when I try and run attedit, the message says 'No object found'. Does anyone know how to fix this or have a lisp routine that I could have to fix this? I believe the attribute problem is because the original file from the architect was made using Microstation and saved poorly to AutoCAD, but I'm not sure. thanks, for any help. SLW210 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 An ATTRIBUTE and an ATTRIBUTE DEFINITION are two separate objects. You will need this, it is not mine and not authored. Quote
CAD-B Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Wow, that was great, so easy. Thank you very. Quote
2kwik4u Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I know this is an old thread, and this is my first post. I joined just to try the above listed LISP routine. I'll be sticking around and trying to give something back (although I'm not sure what at this point). Just wanted to say thanks to whomever authored that ATD2TXT.lsp file!!!! I had been fighting a set of attributes in a floorplan created by a previous employee that had ALL blocks exploded with attributes left behind. Of course when I went in and made the necessary additions for our asbuilt drawing set, none of my changes were showing up in the sheet. Some research pointed me to attributes not working properly outside of a block, and then to this thread! Lisp routine ran through in less than a minute, and cured an hours worth of headaches in replacing all of the attributes with text. Thanks again!!! Quote
