going from inventor to AutoCAD Electrical?

I took an AutoCAD class a few years ago and learned all of the basic 2D stuff, but after learning parametric modeling I haven't touched it in a long time.

Now I'm trying to do some wire harness designs in Inventor and from what I've read it looks like drawing a schematic in AutoCAD Electrical and exporting a wire list is the way to go.

I've got AutoCAD Electrical 2009, but I'm not sure where to start. In Inventor you place pins then create wires.

Does everything need to be in blocks and placed in a drawing before pins are added? I just started with this in Inventor so I'm stilll learning, but are pins added in the same way in AutoCAD as they are in Inventor? I haven't been able to find a tutorial online that is basic enough for me to understand what they are talking about.
