We have about 12 different standard title blocks that we use to start every plan, depending on what it is.

This one attached runs really slow and causes some of our users' machines to crash. I simply cannot isolate what is causing it. Reckon someone could have a look and see what you think?

Have you Purged and Audited the drawing yet?

Do you have a bloated scalelist?

Do you utilize layer filters?

OK...I downloaded your drawing and opened it on my machine with no problem. The file size is listed at around 288KB and after do a purge (3 times) and an audit (no errors) I got it down to 212KB. But even 288KB is not very big size-wise so I don't understand why you would be having a problem unless AutoCAD was looking for something that is referenced inside the drawing and the path to this object/entity/whatever is via your network and possibly a bit convoluted thus slowing AutoCAD down.

I leave it un-purged until the data is all transferred in. This way all our layers and blocks are correctly defined. The drawing is well and truly purged for the majority of the time that we work on it.

How do I find if the scalelist is "bloated"? I have a bunch of preset viewport scales.

There is a note about "Proxy" objects on some of our drawings. Perhaps this is affecting those who use the dwg in LT? 3 of our machines use LT. But I do not know how to find out more about the proxy settings warning other than the note that pops up when you open the drawing.

To my knowledge nothing is referenced in.

Yesterday I isolated the fact that it works smoothly when panning and zooming in Model Space. It is slow and jumpy when in Layouts looking through a viewport.

On my machine when I open it it sets there for about a second and a half, then pops open all at once. After that it seems to do ok. I don't notice anything unusual other than that.

Thanks for checking it out. Glad to know there is nothing blindingly obvious, sometimes I doubt myself sitting in this small office.

Sounds like you may need to download an object enabler. Who else worked on these drawings and what other AutoDesk product did they use?

That sounds promising. The title block was made in Civil3D.

Do I download them from Autodesk?

I assume these will only affect each individual machine that we install enablers on, and will be of no advantage to clients and consultants that we forward our plans to?

Object enablers might help, but the problem is that the Titleblock was created in Civil3D. There was a thread on this a few months back. You need to find the troublesome objects, delete and redraw with AutoCAD. Having Properties turned off or everything collapsed might improve performance.
