nicnicman
How can I trim the "pipe" exactly at the "cylinder"? Thanks for any suggestions.
Cad64
Make a copy of the Cylinder and then Subtract it from the Pipe. Make sure the Cylinder is a Solid though. It looks like it was created using Revsurf?
nicnicman
It was created using Revolve.
nocturne00
use slice with the surface option then select the cylynder as your slicing plane SLICE Select objects to slice: 1 found Select objects to slice: Specify start point of slicing plane or [planar Object/Surface/Zaxis/View/XY/YZ/ZX/3points] : S Select a surface: Select solid to keep or [keep Both sides] :
shift1313
nocturn will that work if he has a solid. should he select Object?
Morgan
nocturn will that work if he has a solid. should he select Object? no, that option is to select your slicing plane
shift1313
slicing did not work for my in 07. I made the large cylinder a solid and a circle with thickness and a loft. The only way it would work for me with the tubing as a solid object was to use the boolean operations.
nocturne00
The cylinder (w/c is the slicing object) was made using revolve as nic stated so its a surface, not a solid, it can work as a surface when slicing solids
shift1313
doesnt revolve make a solid and revsurf make a surface? im not sure what i did lately but my solid extrusion look like his cylinlder with multiple defining lines that in 2d shade mode look like a surface. nocturne00
when you revolve a single polyline, you get a hollow surface
nocturne00
Revolving a single polyline also works in making sufaces. See here
nicnicman
I ended up revolving as a poly line to make a solid. Then copied the cylinder in the same place and used the subtract command. Thanks everybody!
