SolView is normally used in conjunction with the SolDraw command. You were aware of that right?

what does that have to do with this?...I mean I want the drawings to be in 2d after i use soldraw

You specifically said, and I quote, "...and I want it to be 2d."

After you have created your views using SolView the 2D objects are created using SolDraw.

Didn't we cover this in another thread?

OK...if you say so.

Maybe you would have results more to your liking if you used the FLATSHOT command.

Paul, if you haven't yet checked out the similar threads links below your original posting, then you would likely find some good information there. Or by pressing the f1 key on your computer you could access directly the AUTOCAD help which ships with the product. There is a pretty good explanation there, just enter your search terms, and it will take you there.

Created with the FLATSHOT command.

These are are 2D blocks.

Please post a copy of the DWG file of your original 3D object. That way the home audience can play along with you.

Paul1391,

More gruell for the mill. Here is yet another way to generate 2 dimensional representations of 3D perspective views. These were done in one swell foop with the FLATTEN command. If you are using it on blocks, they should be exploded first, so that they become 3D models.

FLATSHOT will probably suit your needs the best, as it is fast & drop dead simple. This one, much as I have tried all of the others, is weirder, as the lisp in the command turns the solids which it represents into polylines, and the solid disappears into the virtual beyond.

This is by way of information, an obvservation, and does not constitute an endorsement.

Perhaps you need to reconsider how you are setting up your views, if you feel the generated blocks are too 3D

Don't try this at home!

my solDraw makes them 3d :))

I have never seen this behavior in AutoCAD - attach the file here that exhibits this behavior.
