How to select grips that align vertically but are at different elevations?

I have three identical squares on top of each other at different elevations. As all of their location grips align vertically it should be possible to select the same corner grip of all of them in one easy operation, but how?

A crossing window selection of those GRIPS should group them. Then they will react to your next command as one unit.

I don't think it is possible without changing the view so that you can select the grips one at a time.

They will if they are at the same elevation, but if they are not, then only the bottom one is selected. It is so tedious to change the view and select them one at a time - especially if there are many!

Use the stretch command instead.

Use the GROUP command, or in 2012 Vanilla there is a GROUP flyout in the right click shortcuts menu, not sure about MEP2012. After you have created a group, there are additional command options offered in the flyout to make changes to the group definition.

I'm getting mixed results with this. I have no trouble elongating a simple square, but when I select a corner to stretch, sometimes it works as expected, other times the corner doesn't move at all. Am I missing something with this command?

If you select with a crossing window I suspect you will find that all is good in the 'hood.
