Hey everyone! Can you please tell me if this laptop is good enough to run autocad 3d? (3d rendering)

HP 17.3" Pavilion DV7-4287CL Laptop PC:

  • Intel Core i5-480M processor
2.66GHz (with turbo up to 2.93GHz)
  • 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 8GB)
Give you the ability to handle most power-hungry applications and tons of multimedia work
  • 750GB SATA hard drive - 5400rpm

Processor wise that's a heftier machine than the desktop I use every day. Much will depend on the video configuration. I'm not up on the newest stuff, but if I were you I'd check with my Autocad reseller. Send him the specs on the machine and tell him what sort of stuff you'll be rendering.

Speaking of that, what will you be rendering? If you are talking small objects or assemblies you'll probably be ok. If you're modeling a 30 story hotel that's a 2 gigabyte file it might be a little light.
