The reason for this is that each time an Xref or something from another drawing is introduced to a drawing, it leaves the scales behind and causes the file to enlarge considerably. -scalelistedit removes them and the file no longer has to read a massive amount of text before copying to another file. It is also advised that you run -scalelistedit on all the drawings. The one you are copying from and the one you are copying to. Quote
