hi guys, here is the question,

basicly, i have a folder named "A", and this folder include 5 DWGs, named 1,2,3,4,5.

"1" is the main DWG, so, 2,3,4,5 is attached or overlayed to main file. First step im copying this folder from server, and im pasting to my desktop.Im doing some modifications on xref files, and im uploading "A" folder to my friend's partage from local company server. its allright till here..

my collegue is copying this same folder "A" and opening main file, and main file reading another "3" file from his desktop... this is the problem. file names are same, and it has to be this way. i want to make the main file read from its own folder. we are using 2008, 2012. im waiting your help guys, thanks a lot!

If I understand the question correctly, you're making individual copies of the drawings for each user to work with. The whole point of external references is to avoid that kind of chaos. You're almost guaranteeing that you'll have discrepancies between the various versions of the drawing.

For everyone to work with Drawing 1, create separate drawings for each user. Xref Drawing 1 into each drawing. Now, whenever someone makes a change to Drawing 1, that change will be propagated to everyone who references that drawing.

You can change the path by which AutoCad looks for an xrefed drawing. Open the Xref Manager, select the drawing, and press the ellipse after Found At below. That will give you a folder selection window. Find the file on your network. Do the same thing for everyone who wants to use Drawing 1.

If "it has to be this way" with separate copies, something is wrong.
