Dana W Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) Yeah, just yesterday too. He was 88. That's only 23 years older than me. One of the fondest memories from my childhood was hearing the MC on G-O-O say "Here they are ladies and gentlemen, Lester Flat and Earl Scruggs." I still tell people to this day that my favorite song is Foggy Mountain Breakdown. I only get quizical looks. I love good banjo pickin'. Hey, what's the difference between a banjo and an onion? Nobody ever cried while cutting up a banjo. As long as I am being silly... Why does a Bagpiper walk while playing? To get away from the noise. Gotta million of 'em ladies and goims. (You google it, I know what it's from) I gotta stop, I just concidered reciting both parts to Abbot & Costello's "Who's on First" Edited March 30, 2012 by Dana W Quote
Dana W Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 ah' date=' the good ol days. nobody thought anything of waiting for the tubes to warm up for the radio, you just planned around it. My family always listened to the Grand Ol' Opry on WSM (650 on your a.m. dial) when I was growing up, so one of my chores for Saturday was to make sure the radio was on and ready to go before the show. It would take about 30 minutes for it warm up properly and stop drifting up the band. If I was late getting it done, I had to sit near the radio and chase the station as it warmed up.[/quote'] Oooooh, I am re-living my childhood. Didja ever think you'd miss your dad smacking the crap out of the TV to get it back on "Vertical Hold"? Today's younguns think horizontal and vertical hold are yoga positions. Quote
