I recieved some .DXF files from a customer instead of .DWG files. Can I change them into .DWG files to work on them?

You can open DXF from within AutoCAD (just change the Files of Type at the bottom of the Open-window) and then Save As a DWG.

you can open them up like a dwg....just double click them and open them up...

or go to file > open....then at the bottom where it says "files of type:" go to the one that says dxf...you can then select the dxf's and open them

Edit: sorry...Tiger beat me to it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

ah, good old .dxf files... you should be able to open them (by double clicking on them, as mentioned above) and just re-save them as a newer version.

we use .dxf files for photometric readings.

I have my default to always save as a *.dwg file, vs 2000, by request.

Too many times, I have to call or email my customer(s) 'cause I currently use vs. '05 and/or '07. "Please save to an earlier version, I don't have '08 or '09. Sorry."
