Tiger Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Hi all! I'm doing my very first armor...no that's not right.. steel reinforcement? Uhm....you know, the steel bars that go in the concrete to keep it from exploding (or imploding, who knows) directly? Anyone know what they're called?? Anyways, I'm doing a drawing of those things and need to do a whole bunch of dimensioning on it so I need to twist and turn the dimensions a bit to fit it all on one drawing. I have found a setting where I can pull the text out with a leader from the actual dimension line, but I'm wondering if anyone know of a way to move that leader? Right now it's connected to the dimension line on the middle, but I want that connection to be able to move along the dimensionline Also - the leader is real good, but it seems I can't rotate the text so that it's perpendicular with the dimensionline - anyone know how to do that? JBullseye74 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Its called REBAR You can rotate the dim by selecting it and opening properties and inserting 90degs for the rotate text i think. Quote
jaylo23 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 You never want to not have that leader in the middle of that line. especially if somebody else will be looking at that drawing. If one of my drafters ever didi that i would raise hell, its just very bad practice. And to rotate the text, if you select the dimension and go to the properties flyout, under the text heading there is an "Text Rotation" option. So just put it at 90 and your good to go. You might not wanna do this either as you want your dims to be easily read and having vertical dims with horizontal text or vice versa can cause a problem. Quote
Tiger Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 My autocad don't know what REBAR is, and Express Help don't seem to know what it is either? So what is it? Quote

I meant REBAR = A rebar, or reinforcing bar, is a common steel bar, and is commonly used in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures, as from WIKI discription Quote

If I enter '90' in Text Rotation, just the line rotates 90degrees, not that text. And yes, I do want a leader to trail from the dimension line, just not from the middle of the dimension line. I'll get you a screenshot to demonstrate more what I mean Quote

Tiger Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 Here it is. The white-ish dimension on the right is the problem. First I want the horizontal, and next I want the line from the dimensioning line to the text to start at the circle a bit up along the line. Is it possible? Quote
NBC Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Do you mean you want to get something similar to what I've attached to this message ? rebar_sample.pdf Quote
Tiger Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 Do you mean you want to get something similar to what I've attached to this message ? yep. that's what I'm trying to do. But on a very much smaller scale. My wall is 1000x3500mm big Quote
NBC Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Tiger, I've attached a dwg file which contains Dimensions (and their styles) which I use when producing reinforcement drawings. Hope it is of some help. I usually use the grips a fair bit to position the text and lines to suit rebar_tags.dwg Quote
