Rickard5 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Today my latest eBay gem arrived I won some LeRoy stuff, and there was an added bonus of a Lead Clutch. so all hot and Happy I made a Holder for the lead clutch for my HP 7440 and did some Plotting with HB lead on Vellum. I Loved that look, and it's got me woundering if there was a way short of Photoshop to plot from Autocad 2002 or 2008, and have it have that Pencile LOOK, something like theese! I'm Really likeing the look of the Pencile sketch Quote
ReMark Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I've seen a couple of lisp routines that will take a CAD drawing and apply a "squiggle" or "jitter" factor to the linework to make it appear it was hand drawn. Is that what you're looking for? Quote

I'm Really likeing the look of the Pencile sketch For 3D models, yes but not as good as the ones on your link. In cad there's only a way to add pencil like overhangs on edges of a model. Try to play with the visual styles and their settings, ill post a screen. Quote

Rickard5 Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 Thanks guys for the ideas, But what I'm more looking for is some way to give my Plots that "more Soften look" and maybe the Overshot lines look, I really can't explain it. What I do is CHEAT alot, Like when we have a presentation to create to sell a jobmy General work flow is where I'll draw the part in Autocad then Plot a Hidden View and either I'll turn it over to my asst. or I'll do a Marker rendering from that plot, then Replot the Drawing over the marker Rendering with RepdioGraph Pens in my Pen Plotter. or If I need something that is more "Sketchy" I'll even Plot a drawing of the part and then Trace it like I were inking it,but in Pencil on Vellum. Then Scan it back in to make my Presentation. While I could go on an all day Rant about Board Drafting and Strip Mall Cad Operators, Let's just leave it as Autocad is nothing more than tool like a Template, I Try hard to use autocad to enhance my Manual Drafting not to replace it but it would be kind of kool to be able to plot to a laser printer and it look like a copy of an original sketch Quote

There is the "Napkin" command for ADT that can get close to this. http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/download.asp?fileID=102 There are several "freehand" lisp routines that can be used if you have vanilla AutoCAD. SketchUp can be used to do this as well. Remember that you can apply styles to 2D line work just as easy as to 3D objects. I like this result better. You can also download plugins for programs like Photoshop and apply these to raster images of your CAD work. You can also print out your design and trace over with pen on a light table. Quote

Impression can do this. I actually think SU does it better and for free (or easier free, since you have to buy the subscription to get Impression). Both Impression and SU have their good points. I might throw up some examples of both and maybe what Acad can do with the freehand lisp. Quote

But a similar look can be acheived in SketchUp. Quote
