Hi,

I'm trying to get started in 3d modelling as a home student (using 2101 Student Edition) and have been to the tutorials which prompr me to do the following

  1. Open a new drawing
  2. Select an Acadiso3D template (all OK so far - the 3D grid comes up with the view control cube but no tool bars/ribbons)
  3. Then I am prompted to select 3D modelling from the options box (2D or 3D) at the bottom right of the screen so that I can bring up the 3D ribbon. (but I do not have these buttons and so cannot progress !!!)
  4. I would loke to start using the primitives in the second tutorial but, because I cant get to the ribbon I cant bring them up

Any help would be gfreatly appreciated

ThanX

Welcome to the forum. :)

3D modeling is a lot of fun.

Try this first CTRL+0 . It sounds like your screen may be CLEANED, which hides everything but the actual drawing from sight.

I am guessing that you used the APPLICATION button up in the left hand corner to open a template.

To the right of that you should see 2 or 3 icons and an arrow pointing down.

The arrow will open a dropdown menu.

Choose SHOW MENU BAR.

If you succeed in getting the MENU BAR to display then click on TOOLS, and there you can access the RIBBON, TOOLBARS, PALETTES and lots of other things.

ALSO choose WORKSPACE to show your workspace dialog box.

Open your WORKSPACE dialog and select a likely candidate.

You can also click on the OPTIONS button which displays from the APPLICATION button at the bottom right.

Go to the PROFILES tab and check and or choose one that sounds promising, then SET CURRENT.

FYI any template ending with ISO will be a METRIC biased template, and the base unit will be millimeters. Entering a length of 1000 to a line command will create a line which will be 1 meter long.

Nothing wrong with that, if you work in metric units, like I do.

But better to get used early to being careful about using an appropriate template for the units of measurement in which you want to work.

If you work in Imperial (feet and inches?) then DO NOT choose an ISO suffixed template.

Lots of people get pretty far down the road before they come to understand these simple distinctions, and typically after something has gotten screwed up.

Does 2101 version still use Ribbon? I would have hoped by then we will be using thought control.

Did this install every look correct?

Attach screen capture of what you see if previous response doesn't fix the problem.
