Inventor image renderer?

Hello, I would like to know if there is another program or plugin you can use with Inventor to produce photorealistic images.

 

Solidworks have an additional program called Photoview 360. Does anybody know of a similar product to use with Inventor??

You have found the "free" (free in that it is included in Inventor) solution - Inventor Studio.

Publisher looks very good, does it produce photo realistic images? If so thats exactly what i'm after. I am not happy with the options you have within Inventor, they are very basic and I cannot set the level of DPI, or lighting properly. Studio is better for that as you can set the DPI, change the lights e.g. spot/point light but you cannot output images using the realistic option, only illustrative or shaded, which I find very annoying.

 

Also I have just found a program called Keyshot, it looks very good aswell, and apparently compatible with Inventor. Do you have any experience or advice about this program?

The only way I know of producing realistic images with studio is with the render animation command, I set the output as images and set an on screen view, and the duration to last 1 sec, I also have 'Preview no render' unticked. This (long winded) way works but the image quality seems to be the same, even between DPI setting of 100 - 6000! so it seems studio doesn't like producing realistic images this way, and the lighting seems to get outputted slightly off.

 

Is there another way?

Render Image, not Render Animation.

 

You might find some information by searching Google for Bill Bogan Inventor Studio tutorials, but I don't think he has written anything recent.

 

And search http://au.autodesk.com for classes by Flaylor and perhaps others.

Yes but render image doesn't have the realistic option, only shaded or illustration.

This may be a feature for Inventor Professional only.

 

 

AU looks really useful I have registered an account with them. I do know how to use Studio, I have created some animations recently, but I probably will pick up a few tips from Mark Flayor.

Inventor Studio is the same in all releases (except for maybe LT - which I have never seen).

I did a quick search - I seem to remember several - I think he has some info on Studio on his website as well and be sure to check out the Bill Bogan tutorials.

Yes I have had a look, but that tutorial was back in 2009 and i'm sure the older versions of Inventor Studio had the realistic option, but not anymore. I have seen lots of Autodesk forums saying there is no realistic option, im not sure what to believe.

 

And yes Bill Bogan's tutorials look very useful, ill look him up.

If you don't have access to the previously mentioned programs or don't like inventor studio, you can always use the "realistic" view mode in the model environment. This mode enables ray-tracing and can produce very nice looking images if you have some idea what your doing. This is an example:

 

 

There are a few drawbacks of going this route.

1) You can't make animations.

2) You can only image export the master position representation.

3) The UCS in the bottom left (you can cut it out with an image editing program though).

The only options under the output tab are to select output destination, and amount of anti-aliasing.

Yes I am aware of using this method but I feel it doesn't give you as much realism as other methods, im experimenting with a Keyshot trial at the moment and in my opinion the results are far better. It is easy and very fast.

 

And btw you can remove the XYZ axis indicator in application options under the display tab.
