jaredmccullough Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I was wondering if it is possible to develop noise contours such as seen in noise contour mapping. I understand one could just hand draft some polylines in but the degree of accuracy I would like to obtain would then not be sufficient. I have a grid based structure currently on a topo map and have the measurements for each block (the blocks are a 10' by 10' area). From here I am lost to how one would approach creating noise contour maps. I am hoping someone would have experience in noise isopleths or in general creating measurement based contours? PLEASE HELP Quote
designerstuart Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 i don't know about these drawings but someone here probably will be able to help. are you looking to draw curvey freehand lines (command SKETCH or SPLINE) like the contours you see on a map showing geo heights, or more like coloured pixels relating to the level of noise in each square? designerstuart Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 are you talking about something like this? Quote
jaredmccullough Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 http://rmssgroup.com/Map%20Sample%203.htm Take a look at the link and one might get a better understanding of what I am looking to create. Essentially what I have so far is in the spectrum of Noise Surverying measurements are taken every 10 feet and I have a grid set on a topographical map based on increments of 10' so each block is ten feet on the x axis and ten on the y axis. I have noise measurements taken for all the cells and now I am trying to create a contour diagram as such. In terms this is generally how this is conducted but I dont quite know how they develp the contour diagrams based on the measurements in autocad Quote
Tyke Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 If your noise level values are in ascii format and have coordinates assigned to them you could treat them as Z-coordinates and read them into a program that can produce contours (such as Civil 3D) . If you only have vanilla AutoCAD you could try using the free CADTools to import the data.http://www.glamsen.se/CadTools.htm Quote
