Currahee Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 I've used a drafting board before but it's been years. Most of my work starts in CAD and stays there. Once in a while, I'll use my "white board" to illustrate something but it's promptly erased and usually doesn't end up in CAD. what is a "white board" Quote
Squirltech Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 what is a "white board" A Dry Erase board. ^^^ What SLW210 said. Quote
f700es Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Started out on a board back in the mid-late 80's (high school). Quote
ReMark Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I have discussed trying to locate an old drafting table and setting it up here at work. It should be a GO when we get time to round up everything. Why? Do you need a table to eat your lunch at? Quote
ReMark Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I'm so old I remember using a wax tablet. I got my first one as a gift from Cicero! Quote
Dana W Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I still use horsehair brushes in my cabinet shop...I couldn't live without them!! That's where mine is too, stored with my planes and chisels. Quote
Dadgad Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 That's where mine is too, stored with my planes and chisels. You mean in the dead tools box? I bet there are a few SPECIAL tools that are spared that indignity, no? Quote
irneb Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Yep somewhere in a box, I've got some "dead" tools. Like those eraser shields, sand-bag to clean the pen tips, etc. But my board I've sold long ago to some student. It was a great board though! Full A0 extended with foot pedal for adjustment and a Mutoh machine for its rulers! Just simply waaaaayyyyy nicer and faster to use than the T-square and triangles I used in school. Quote

Boy that old Mutoh brings back memories. Mine is still in the store room of the company where I used to work, along with five or six others too. They never throw anything away. Quote

No, merely temporary while I find a way to do wood in the swamp. My brush regularly cleaned up chips, shavings, and dust made by the rest of my 'dead' tools. Sheeesh, there can't be many worse places in the world to do woodwork than central FLA. Quote

Dana W Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Think TROPICAL HARDWOODS! :wink:And Amazing smooth for finishing. Like Cocobolo and Koa, and Mango, and Kauri? wadda? I look like a rockeyfeller or sumpin? Besides, they still gotta be dry. Down here, you build something, take it outside, it explodes. Build it outside, and take it inside, it shrinks until it looks like a board fence. I'm thinkin shrinkwrap. I know how really, it is just harder. Quote
