mattieg Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 How would I go about finding a professional to critique my title block? Is there a way to post it here? Thanks in advance! -- Matt Quote
hotrodz0321 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 there are many professionals here....most of us work with title blocks everyday......you can post the dwg here (if you have enough posts...i think there is a 10 post minimum) Quote
mattieg Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 As soon as I can post it, I will. Thank you. Quote
mattieg Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 Actually, I guess I can upload it. Here it is, I changed the file extension to *.dwg because it won't let you upload *.dwt files. Thank you for critiqing it! I would appreciate many different opinions, so please don't hesitate to comment, regardless of how harsh it may be! -- Matt acad-a-title.dwg Quote
hotrodz0321 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 it serves its purpose....i modified yours just to show you what you could do to add aesthetic values to the title block...i modified the corners a bit....just be creative Quote
dbroada Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 looking at hotrodz post I would change the font for standard style to simplex (or ariel) eather than txt Quote
ReMark Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Given the spacing after your text have you actually left enough room for the required information without squeezing it to fit? Quote
mattieg Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 I made my template from a tutorial in an AutoCAD Tutorial Book I bummed from a Professor at College, so, I personally don't have any need for a drawing code or revisions or whatnot for my class projects. So, for scale, date, and etc, I do have enough space Quote

cpriedel Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I would also look into what Information is Important and emphasis. I wouldnt do e.g. "Dr. By", "Ch. By" (I would suggest to use "Drawn" and "Checked") in the same text size than lets say the Sheet Titel or No. You may also want to add a Scale and northing in the TB and maybe a space for the Arch Stamp. Not sure what this TB is meant for. Just thinking out loud Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 One important thing, Revision numbers, always include a space for those. Try to google some title blocks on the net, just as related literature to improve your own title block. Cheers Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Here's a TB ive just completed recently. all basic info is placed, based on many tb's ive looked on the net We've just deducted and narrowed down all necessary info to these. revision descriptions are to the other side of this image. Hope this helps. Quote

rookie37 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I saw a clever idea on a drawing. First, I'll back up. There is a problem in the industry that a preliminary drawing will go out incorrectly. The stamp 'Not for construction' is sometimes forgotten to be placed on it. Consequently, things get built using a preliminary drawings. Now for the clever idea I saw The title block had the stamp inbuilt in it. (this is not the clever part) The clever part is that the stamp was 'Not For Construction' To make this drawing for constuction the 'NOT' was an attribute and had to be edited to be removed. 'For Construction' was permanent and part of the title block. Therefore, if this step got forgotten, nothing got built. Quote
