Inventor question..

I am trying to draw a tail light for an old car, to be machined. I have the ring that was drawn and welded into the fender, the drawing file was sent to me in Solidworks and I was able to open it.

The issue is, the tail light will be flush with the ring on the top side, and must match the contours of the ring and fender. The bottom side of the ring is flat. I would like to project geometry of the flat end of the ring....offset it for clearance and then extrude it up thru the ring/fender. Is there any way to trim that solid back to match the contours, or am I going about this all wrong?

Thanks!

I didn't see anything attempted to solve the problem in your file - only the original ring.

The geometry looks good - so it should be possible.

Give it a shot and I'll show you how to finish to the countours when you post the updated file with your attempt.
