UCAssistantCAD Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Awesome! Thank you. I also need a little help on another design. Im not sure how to create the other small circles or the teeth... Quote
ReMark Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 The six inner circles can be duplicated by creating one circle then using the Array command. You can use the same technique to do the teeth. Make one then array. The center point for both arrays would be the center of your main circle. Quote
UCAssistantCAD Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 Alright so I did the circle's no problem with the polar array. Now with the teeth I made one and can't seem to properly use polar array with it. When i use the polar command I cant match it up properly..I'm not sure what to do so I can make each end meet properly. Any clue? Quote
fuccaro Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 When you draw the first tooth, be sure it has the ends on the circle and that there are exactly 360:24=15 degrees between the circle's center and the two endpoints. I would draw two lines starting from the center, with 15 derees between them. What you draw on the circle between them, it will be repeated 24times when using the circular array command. Quote
ReMark Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) Either the number of teeth is too long or you input the wrong number of teeth to fill the 360 degrees thus the reason for the overlap. I believe the diagram tells you how many teeth there are. OK, I just checked my drawing and there should be six "teeth" per quadrant or a total of twenty-four teeth. ReMark Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I used the "tooth" shown in red above to create my polar array. The ARRAY command and my inputs: Command: -ARRAY (I use the classic Array command since I don't like the new one.) Select objects: 1 found Select objects: Enter the type of array [Rectangular/Polar] : P (Polar) Specify center point of array or [base]: Enter the number of items in the array: 24 Specify the angle to fill (+=ccw, -=cw) : 360 (I could have accepted the default. I did this just for emphasis.) Rotate arrayed objects? [Yes/No] : Y (I could have accepted the default.) Quote
