EMS_0525 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Something i use frequently, but everyone i have told didint know about it. type divide in the command line, it divides a line into how every many equal parts you specifiy, it puts points for each section. Useful for doing concrete reinforcing. Quote
Andy0902 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 or just type 'div' if you want to save a fraction of a second Quote
stevsmith Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I use the divide command alot. it helps me determine my post centres when detailing a layout of a balustrade Quote
Andy0902 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 What kind of balustrading do you design and what program do you use? 2D or 3D? Sorry for questions just curious because i do the same:) Andy Quote

Sorry for questions just curious because i do the same:) Andy Basically I design the likes of balustrades and staircases that you see in shopping centres, offices, museums, colleges, etc etc. We tend to do all our balustrading in 2d AutoCAD but for the more complex steel stairs I tend to used 2d then 3d (in A/C)to bring it together and make the pieces fit. Where abouts are you from? Im from just outside Glasgow. Quote

Useful for doing concrete reinforcing. Hi EMS I just tried this command as it looks like I could use this a lot. I do alot of balustrades etc. However I must be doing something wrong, I draw a line 3000mm long then type: DIVIDE SELECT OBJECT TO DIVIDE ENTER NUMBER OF SEGMENTS (BLOCK) I TYPE 5 THEN ENTER Then I get nothing. Can you give me straight forward exactly what you do? Thanks for your help. Dodge Quote
PS_Port Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Dodge, you need to set your point size and style "PDSIZE" & "PDMODE" have a play with those system variables, or look them up in the help for further reading. still hot enough for you down there ?? Quote
DODGE Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Thanks For that PS I just had a play with those and I see what you mean, Awsome. Because I have acheived my goal today of learning one thing new in AutoCad per day. I'm gonna knock off early and go and suck on a cold one, or three. Yep still hot currently 43c. Thanks PS Dodge feeling hot hot hot. Quote
Andy0902 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If you got to... Format - Point Style you can choose different point styles which make it easier for you to see. My preference is 4th across, 2nd down. Choose a different point style then try the Divide command again. Andy Quote

Lentezza Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Thanx everybody for that useful thread!!! The point style thang was the useful hint... I think this must have been the first time I found the answer to a problem directly via a simple first try Google search.... Quote
