rwalsh Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 When i go to use a new hatch and try to change the scale it atomatical goes back to 1.0. When i go into Hatch edit after i have clicked out of it, i can get it to go to the scale i need. It just wastes so much time to have to do two steps instead of one. How can i get the scale to change right away? Quote
Dana W Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Do you have the hatch object to be edited selected before calling hatchedit? If so, it does no good. You have to select it again. When done with the hatch edit dialog screen do you click OK, or preview and right click to accept it? If you have previewed, left clicking will cancel instead of OK'ing the edit unless you hit the OK button after the dialog re-appears. Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 If you have the object selected then select hatch it automatically using theprevious settings. If you then type _t (before excepting the selection) youwill get the dialogue box appear and you can change the settings. Quote
rwalsh Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 I have AutoCAD 2011 and what you click the hatch button the options appear up on the top where the ribbon is, which is similar to the dialog box, i should be able to change the scale up on the ribbon options but the scale stays at 1 or my previous scale. Then the only way i can change it is to select the hatch object and then go to the Hatch edit. I want to avoid having to go to the hatch edit dialog box and be able to do it right up on the ribbon. This will save me a step. I can click the hatch button then type_t and it will bring me to the hatch edit dialog box, but i should be able to do it right on the ribbon since there is a scale button on it. Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Is the options in the 'properties' section greyed out? You should be able to manualy enter a scale in the scale option or use the 2 up and down arrows to change it. However if I you open the dialog box all the options grey out. Quote

Your original post was worded as though you were having some sort of an error or miss-step in command usage. I was looking for a further explanation of when the error might be occurring, but your response is couched in a completely different set of circumstances. What you really want is a customization of the ribbon tabs. Changing the way the hatch edit options work is a bit too complicated for me to bother with. I see no point in it since each of the two hatch dialog windows is fast enough. There is a Hatch Insertion button on the DRAW tab. There is a Hatch Edit button on the Modify tab. There is a Hatch scale option on the properties sheet as the Gentleman from the UK has noted. One click on the proper button and Bob's yer uncle. Quote
