Check boxes or another way to "single click" enable properties

I have inventory/item schedules on my coversheet. Filling it out is tedious work when there are a couple hundred items to choose from. Currently we use the tool palettes and there are drop down menus containing numerous descriptions of items and quantities, etc. Ideally I would like to be able to check a box, without having to click an item first to then select the palette options. Minimizing clicks = speed! Anyway, I want the check box to enable editing of certain locked fields, so that any item that is not checked can be edited but to avoid mistakes any thing not checked will be locked at default value. Upon checking the box, I want a quantity to appear as a default 1, which is the right # 99% of the time. And then enable the other drop downs for item dimension properties and colors and such. Any ideas?

Not an option most likely as your eish has a lot to do with the way you eork, not anyone else.Try posting a DWG file to support the post you wrote: you will need to seriously customize beyond toolpalettes.
