RoseMari Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Here is my try: RoseMari, I see you have a lot of help from others, I just played a litle bit with your drawing. The text is cut from the solid. And I used Solid Works. For sure that isn't the way your instructor expects from you, so wait the advices from people using the software you use. As I mentioned before: I just played some. thanks alot for your interest, it's really good way, hope my instructor allow it because it's much easier than what he asked Quote
RoseMari Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Add your name on the object itself? I suppose you could use the IMPRINT command although there is another possibility that comes to mind using text that has been exploded. I'll await you response first. no I should add my name near to it (like a label for example), he want it like the following picture he wants it simple, but in straight line, in autocad 2009 we use new ucs>face and it's worked, but I couldn't do it in autocad 2013 My feeble attempt yielded this using AutoCAD. It wasn't quite as easy as I may have lead you to believe. I had to use the Express Tools command called TextExplode to first explode the text. Then I created regions of each letter. Note that in the instance of the 'R' and the 'O' I had to use the Subtract command on the inner parts of the letter. Next I extruded the letters into the block and then I subtracted them thus "cutting" them into my solid. The red that you see was done using the Color Faces command. I can't see how your teacher would expect the students to know this technique. It is probably much, much easier to do something like this in Inventor or Solidworks. wow you are perfect in autocad, and it's really hard for a beginner like me to do it every time but thanks god he just want it simple , just like in the picture, but I really don't know how to make it straight like he did in autocad 2009, so I will be grateful if you can help me Quote
RoseMari Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 I think you may have gotten it RoseMarie. Nice job. Fun wasn't it? I'm really grateful to you and to everyone who tries to help me with it yaa it's fun -->> especially when I finished it Quote
ReMark Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I am far from perfect. There are forum members who make me look like a novice! But thanks just the same for the compliment. I don't normally put text in a 3D model so you'll have to give me a moment. Off the top of my head I think it would just be a matter of reorienting your UCS. Quote
ReMark Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Something like this? I did this by rotating my UCS. To make sure the bottom of my text was at the same elevation as the bottom of my rectangular solid I also relocated my origin. I had to move the text to get it into the right position. I guess I could have drawn a reference line too but I forgot about that until I started typing this. I'm sure there is a better way to accomplish the same task. One of the smarter forum members will come along and give us both a lesson. You can count on that! Quote
JD Mather Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 in autocad 2009 we use new ucs>face and it's worked, but I couldn't do it in autocad 2013 Simply type UCS hit Enter Type Face (or F) and hit Enter Select the face where you want your text. now do the text. Quote
