Hello everyone, I hope someone will be able to help me. :(

I was using "Real time zoom" tool, when my arm slipped on somewhere on the keyboard and something weird happened. All my work which was drawed (plans, elevations, maps...) turned into a "dot" which is impossible to zoom in or do anything with it (I can move it though) and see the objects. :ouch:

Does anyone know what could have happened?

I could send You the .dwg file by email.

Thank You

Unfortunately, after that happened, I turned AutoCAD off and then on again... I realised that it was a stupid move only after I did it

And in the process you saved the drawing too?

And you tried a zoom > extents?

Are you working strictly within model space?

Posted

I think I did.

Yes I have tried that. Nothing happens, it's the weirdest thing.

Yes, I am working in model space

Attach a copy of the drawing to your next post.

I tried that through "Attachments" but something is not working.

I can send it by email, if it's ok

I have to be away from my computer for about ten minutes. 5:27 PM EST

Ok.

When You get back, You can right to me

if You don't want to publish Your email. Than I will send You the drawing

You should have an email from me very shortly.

I would suggest that you edit your previous post and remove your email address now.

Why are there so many versions of the site plan?

Why are there so many versions of the building layout too?

Much of your geometry has a negative X coordinate.

How much AutoCAD experience do you have?

Is this a class assignment?

Oww, so You managed to "fix" it??? That would be woderfull.

The drawing is very messy, I know. I'm an architecture student, so I have to create the site plan. When I change something, I leave some of the previous versions. Also I'm not good at autocad because I learnt it myself, the university doesn't theach us.

I don't believe I fixed anything.

Your file size is almost 11MB for a 2D drawing that probably shouldn't be bigger than 250-350KB.

Are you supposed to do this in CAD or on the board (manually)?

Posted

I started to learn in September. As I said, the university doesn't tech us, they want that we would do everything by hand. So I have to redraw it by hand later.

If You managed to zoom the drawing (or do what You did to fix it), I would be very gratefull if You would send it back by email

So you thought that if you did it in CAD first it would be easier. Then you planned on redrawing everything by hand afterwards. Does that describe what your methodology was going to be?

You have way too many iterations of the same geometry. It doesn't matter if it is the site plan, building layout, sections or elevations.

Some of your objects, like a toilet for example, are located way off in space all by themselves as if you had no idea where they were being inserted or copied to. You also have attribute definitions way off in the far reaches of your drawing. I won't ask how you managed that.

Bottom line: Your drawing needs to be cleaned up and I would suggest that you move your geometry such that the coordinates of all objects have a positive X/Y coordinate.

It is easier. I drawed by hand last year, but it takes way too much time. Redrawing is for the presentation. I will have to do it perfectly with ink. It is not easy when You start by hand, then have to change something.

I understand what You are talking about but I don't understand why this happened. I thik that expierence, knowleage will come in time. I will try to improove my skills (which I know, are below 0 level)

So could You please send it back?

I'm working on it. Go for a ten minute run.

GadZ! You have what appears to be 15 topographic surveys at or near the coordinates of 0,0. And they all appear to be the same. That is just so wrong.

Many of your objects are duplicates done at different sizes too.

The first rule of AutoCAD is:

Draw all model space objects at FULL size.
