jjatho
Running AutoCAD 2013. I created a .dwt template for general use with plenty of a various paper space layouts and such. I also created a bunch of styles for text, dimensions, multileaders, and tables for both paper and model space. After saving the template, those styles will still be there any time I open up a new drawing with that template. After working a bit and then saving the drawing, the styles will all be gone once I open it again. Re-opening the original template always has all of the old styles still saved, so why would they disappear once I use that template on a drawing? Organic
Are you purging and removing the unused styles inadvertently?
jjatho
Ah that makes perfect sense. I use PURGE all the damn time. It didn't occur to me that it would be removing unused styles. Is there a way to protect unused styles from being purged?
Dadgad
You can change your preference in the PURGE dialog to confirm items to delete. You may do better by changing your ISAVEPERCENT, instead of running purge in the middle of your drawing. I too use a template full of the usual suspects. Use the -PURGE (include the hyphen) command at the commandline when the drawing is finished. First purge the REGAPPS. Then repeat the command using the ALL option. AUDIT, choose Yes for fix problems. Set your ISAVEPERCENT to 0, and do a final clean save, which will make the file as lean as possible. As you have already found running PURGE before its time will only cause you problems, there is no upside. Organic
You could always put those styles into your titleblock (mtext objects containing a single dot that is then hidden below some other part of your titleblock etc).
