Corrupt DWG exports from REVIT?

Good advice there KFW. I just wanted to point out what types of problems were being encountered. Does the "ExportToAutoCAD" option give any indication?

Not really but 1174 linetypes you've mentioned and shademodes like xray is everything i miss after.

maybe its a little revit export mistake. (etransmit is the same no one really uses options/config in etransmit)

Hmm, good responses guys. For me though the export to autocad command only reduces file size to 852kb…? Then ‘cleandwg’ pushes it back up to 897kb! As for the command line purge, I set this up as my standard purge so I don’t have to deal with the popup dialoge every time, so should have rid me of these unreferenced linetypes and such the first time I tried? I tried a manual command line purge to be sure, but still no luck! What can I be doing so wrong? :?

...Also what's more worrying is why is all that junk getting copied around into healthy drawings in the first place! Oh, and by further expeimentation I notice that exporting to .dxf and then back to .dwg rids me of these issues. A slow process though.

I used the DXFOUT/DXFIN method then I did two passes with the -Purge command. First pass for Regapps. Second pass for All. Then an Audit.

Why is that junk getting copied into a healthy drawing? Most likely because you are either bringing something, like the line, over to your new drawing or it is somehow embedded into the template you are using as the basis for each new drawing.

Bottom line: You have been shown two ways of ridding your drawing of the problem. What you do with that information is entirely up to you.

Ahh so the truth comes out! Not the answer I was expecting though, it seems odd having to export then import again to fix the problem. I can appreciate why this is though, and it certainly does resolve the issue.

Shouldn’t have too much work to do to fix it now, but I dread to think what might have been should I have carried on copying & pasting from these bloated files...

As I say it’s definitely the line (or any element for that matter) that is transferring junk when copy & pasting, which is strange as this doesn’t happen with the linetypes etc between healthy drawings. It’s like the unreferenced junk is associating itself with anything taken from these files.

Not to worry though, I have my solution 8) thanks again!

Almost happy. He was looking for a miracle and all I could give him was smoke and mirrors. LoL
