Bill Tillman
If you've got AutoCAD then you've already got what you need. Just print using the "dwg to pdf" driver. It will print to pdf file for you and your layers will all transfer as well. Using the right PDF reader, even the free ones, will let you turn on and off layers in the PDF reader. Now if you want to convert pdf to dwg by scanning it in, that's a whole nother kind of smoke. And even the best stuff out there leaves a lot to be desired, but it does work if you've got the $$$ to spring for it. The new AutoCAD Design Suite has this built-in but it's comes at an added cost to the AutoCAD price.

humpo
Hi Treeheart A while ago, i was having issues generating PDFs from within autoCAD 2013. 1 specific DWG i had just would not co-operate. It was suggested on here that I install cute PDF writer which, once installed can be selected in the printer/plotter drop down menu. it worked like a charm.
