tomtomtom Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Hello all I have a question about units. I am using Autocad Civils 3D. I have a set points from which i have create an arc of best fit. On the regression window that pops up displays my existing northing and easting points and the proposed northing and easting points of the arc of best fit. The values of the northing and easting points on both my existing and proposed points have an apostrophe next to the value for example 54238.8451' - what does the ' mean. can anyone help. Thank you. Murph_map Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Rob, thanks. how do i change this so that i am using only mm? With Civil3D you need to start with the Metric dwt, there's a few extra places in Civil3D that need to be changed verse just the units in Vanilla AutoCAD. Quote
RobDraw Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I have never worked in Civl3D but here is how I would do it. Type "UNITS". In the top left corner drop down list, select mm. Hit apply and AutoCAD gives you three options. Pick the one that is appropriate for the file. Murph, since you have used Civil3D, why don't you tell him the extra things that need to be changed so he can fix his file? Quote
Murph_map Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Murph, since you have used Civil3D, why don't you tell him the extra things that need to be changed so he can fix his file? Cause I was on my way to work and didn't have Civil3d open. Quote
Murph_map Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Imperial units:' = feet " = inches In the drawing settings from the Toolspace you need to set them if you don't start with the metric dwt. With Civil3D there should be two short cuts under Civil3D in the Start programs and also two desktop icons by default (OOTB install) that makes it easy to select the correct profile and dwt to use. If you need to change them then see the attached. Quote
SMP Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Don't forget to change some of the units in the Ambient Settings! Those settings got the best of me once! Just throwing that out there. Quote
