Strix
Welcome to CADTutor! it may be useful to tell us where you are as average house sizes vary greatly between countries

Strix
If you have a scout about on here, you may find some examples in the 3D section, but beware of attempting to copy any of them wholesale The key to being good at CAD is to do all your own assignments and then look for more stuff to push you further! rookie37
Go to a sales office that builds houses. They will have plenty of 3d pictures and floor plans of a house. You're not suppose to copy them, but actually you can because sales drawings give out so little information, you have to design it anyway. SuperCAD
Your best bet is to but one of those home plan books or check one out at the library. There should be plenty of house plans that you can get a good idea from in those. It's OK to use those plans for practice and learning only, just don't copy them and try to sell them as your own works. You'll be looking at around $250,000 + legal fees + jail time for each offense if you're caught.
Noahma
Hi i am new at autocad, and i am a student and we have to do house drawings, i was wondering what are some good house dimensions? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. I am one of the Architectural guys on the forums. The dimensions are going to be based on the lot, and Clients request. The room sizes are going to be per the clients and your overall envelope for the building, and to some extent scale of the project. You should check out the "ten books of Architecture" by Vitrivus (sp?) it is a VERY old book, but it covers proportions pretty well. if you are looking for a set of plans to base your design on you can check out what they have on eplans.com. Do not copy them directly, they are copyrighted and punishable by law. But you can get some good general ideas, the plan book homes sometimes are not the best of design such as Master bedrooms only accessible by going through the kitchen, or through the mud room etc.
