falconed Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Hey everyone. I'm current on holidays now from uni and am looking at practicing AutoCAD as I've heard I'll be using it a lot in the following years. Is there any decent web sites with practice drawings of any type? Any help would be great! Cheers. Quote
ReMark Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I'd say your best bet would be to pick up a good after-market AutoCAD book, one that comes with an included CD or DVD. Typically, you'll find drawing examples keyed to the different chapters in the book so you have something to work with as you follow the step-by-step procedures. Have you tried checking for any online tutorials for 2009? You're drawing in metric are you not? Quote
Tankman Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 eBay is an excellent place to purchase AutoCAD books, most of which come with a CD. The CD covers the lessons from the book and includes *.dwg files. Make AutoCAD your hobby, not work. AutoCAD drawings will be your presentations! The Internet if full of CAD tutorials, most are free. Best of luck in your studies! Quote
falconed Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely be checking out some books next time I visit the book store. I consider AutoCAD something I enjoy (only have drawn basic 2D drawings) and would love to go onto learning 3D as the images of the week have inspired me. Would AutoCAD's 3D component be fine for such drawings? Thank you once again and I'll get reading. Quote
ReMark Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 AutoCAD's 2009 3D features/commands can produce some remarkable (like how I slipped my name in there?) results. I think anything short of a car, or something really curvy, can be produced given enough time, patience and knowledge. I'll be curious if AutoDesk will be making additional enhancements to the 3D capabilities of vanilla AC in the future. Quote
