Using AutoCAD 2006:

I have drawing with multiple shapes of the same kind. I need to change that shape into my block. Is there anyway I can do a find and replace for a certain shape and replace it with my block? The original shape is made from splines and I have about 400 to modify into my dwg.

Hello dabatman welcome to forums

i dont know if this may help, ive had abit of play with what you said and want to ask, are the spines on the same layer? if they were then you could isolate the layer, create your block place them ontop of the ones you have and then simple delete the non-required spines.

My next idea is

- Type in "properties"

- look for the icon on the far right which looks like a small blue tornado with a lightening bolt.

- click on that and that will bring up the quick select screen

- change the quick select box to as the attachment but change the properties box to what ever the spines have in common i.e area

then click ok, this should highlight all your spines to erase, before that you could place your blocks on top of them. i may seem abit long winded, but its the fastest way i could think of.

hope it helps :)
