revit 2009 importing cad files

im starting a new revit file and every time i try to import a cad dwg into revit it kicks me off. ive tried to do this at least 10 times and i have to restart the program over and over. is this something common? am i doing something wrong? pls shed some light

dxf, dwg? autocad native?

 

does the file have xrefs? what is the error in Revit?

its the original dwg file. no exrefs. no visible error in revit. im just kicked off everytime i try to import

Sounds like it could be and install bug error.

Might need to file a support request with Autodesk or uninstall and reinstall your revit.

Is it an AutoCAD Architecture file using smart walls and AEC Objects? In my experience Revit can have problems with that. If it is then export it in AutoCAD to ACAD 2000 format and see what happens. If not, then most likely an install problem as the previous post said.
