Chain And Sprocket

Hi

FYI New User Inv 9

I want to model and animate a vertical furnace door counter-weight system using a line shaft with two keyed sprockets mounted one at either end. One end of the chain conected to the top of the door and then going over the higher positioned sprocket and shaft and down to the counter-weight to facilitate parallel rise and fall of the door.

Is their any tutorials that would help me in the construction of the chain and its animating.? Hope You Can Help

Many thanks in advance

i dont know off hand if there is a specific tutorial for this(im sure there is somewhere). I havent tried to do a chain myself but i know you would need pin constraints at each link as well as add a tangent constraint for the outter link/inner link where the touch. Im not sure if you can create an adaptive part out of a few links and just copy them. JD_Mathers is the man you want input from. Id would be interested to see this.

Check YouTube for videos of this. There are several "tutorial" videos on there.

I'm not sure if this was possible in Inv 9. I'm working on a tutorial but it isn't easy. Here is one that one of my students did. Oops, never mind the zip is 1.3 meg I'll have to see if I can whip up a low-res animation.
