damianosnz Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Hi I am a student, and very new to autocad..... I have completed a foundation and floor plan, and want to add a title/drawing details to it. I have spent many hours trying to figure it out. Next time I will use a template, but I am having trouble setting the limits I want within the template. A message says "Cannot set paper space limits when paper margins or background are displayed." Any help would be great. Thanks. Quote

ReMark Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Your foundation and floor plan are drawn in model space at full size. That's where "Limits" used to be set. Your titleblock and border go in your layout. Part of setting that up is selecting the size of the paper you are going to be printing on. Therefore, if you try to set "new" limits, which there is no need to do, AutoCAD will generate the message you have seen. See those dashed lines in your layout? As long as your titleblock and border are within those lines it will print. Draw everything 1:1; that is the scale you plot at from within your layout. I am assuming you have mastered the art of inserting a viewport, displaying your model space objects and know how to scale the viewport. Am I correct? Quote
