Debalance:

Let's say I have two drawings. Drawing A has 100 2Dpolylines in it. All are the same length. Drawing B has 100 LWPOLYLINES in it and all are the same length as those in Drawing A. Each drawing is saved. What is the difference in file size between the two drawings?

Just out of interest I created a drawing with 100 LWPolylines each with 10 vertices and when saved it had a size of 44 kB.

I made a copy of the drawing and converted all of the 100 LWPolys into 2D Polylines and saved that. It had a size of 60 kB, 36% bigger than the original LWPolys.

Wasn't Debalance just doing a bit of free advertising for his software?

If you consider that the base size of a blank .dwg acad file is 31KB then the LWPolyline file becomes 13KB and the 2DPolyline becomes 29KB, which is over a 100% increase in file size.

For each vertex in 2DPOLYLINE (AcDb2dPolyline) to the database of a drawing is added a new record with the additional entity VERTEX (AcDbVertex). At the same time, for a entity LWPOLYLINE (AcDbPolyline) in the database of a drawing is created one record regardless of the number of vertices. And this is caused by the difference in the size of the drawings.
