Edit justification of attributes over multiple blocks

Question for you millhuse,

Are you willing to "replace" the blocks and categorize them by layer name or perhaps by type [geometry]? That way you dont have to deal with the same problems you're having now.

pBe I'm willing to do most everything to clean up the drawing, and to make it userfriendly for the next person who has to maintain it.

As long as the workflow for future updates is easier than now.

Ok Millehuse, but which do you prefer to categorize the blocks? Right now as far as i can tell there are 3, . And as for the layers there are quite a few and i cant make sense of it.

So here's what we're going to do:

Use a generic INSERT routine for the three types of block

Select all blocks and if by chance there are other blocks on the drawing , filter the ones we need to replace.

Detect which type of block

Replace the block and copy the current Attribute values to the new block

Maintaining the scale is still in question as you need all Attdef height to be the same

Inherit the layer name.

BTW: Only the Pkt_nr tag is visible, Fnavn and the rest are invisible. How do you want to go about this one?

**Note: I'm writing this code on my free time, I'It'll be done when its done millhuse, So no promises :) but anyone here can give it a go.

Hey pBe

Sorry I'm rather busy at work these x-mas days - and I'd like to give a satisfactory reply to your questions.

It might make more sense if I give a little more detail. Basically it's a drawing of wells, fire hydrants, covers, water stop fossetts and the likes. The blocks location are GPS'ed into our sit-plan - so their placement is very important. Dont want to dig in the ground and find a water pipe you didnt know was there.

We used fixblock.lsp on the blocks and noticed that the way the blocks are created from the 3rd party firm - is with all attributes in the center of the block - so in the cases were the block has information in both Pkt_nr and Label .. the text is on top of each other.

Think there are more than 3 blocks, but I'd have to take a closer look. I know the O is there in 2 different sizes - I'm guessing 5-6ish. But I'd have to dig a lil further to make absolutely sure.

The layers represent the different types of wells - eg. 913 is _always_ a rainwater well and then the size/shape is defined from the rest of the layer name / tag name of block.

Eg:

913 - 30 Dæksel Firkant = Rainwater well - 30 Cover Square

913 - Større end 100 Jern = Rainwater well - Bigger Than 100 Iron

This way we can easilly filter the wells - and only see rainwater wells on one drawing and wastewater on another - but have all the information in one drawing for easy update.

So I'm thinking that categorizing the blocks by layer would be optimal.

BTW: Only the Pkt_nr tag is visible, Fnavn and the rest are invisible. How do you want to go about this one?

Pkt_nr and Label are the only ones that need to be visible on the drawing. Label doesnt have data in all the blocks.

That is more than okay, merely having this conversation is teaching me loads about the program and possibilities within. And I very much appreciate your help.

Roger that.

Is that maintain the values for invisible attdef? and to show only the Label & Pkt_nr tags? blank or what not?

Go ahead and continue with your digging... what i had in mind for this program depends on the type of blocks.
