MEPGuy Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Hi, I just spent a bunch of hours creating custom line types using imperial measurements which is the format we use most often with our drawings. Once in awhile we do work in metric and I am wondering if I need to redo the entire line type .lin file using metric values. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Great forum! Dan Quote
eldon Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I draw up topographic surveys using metre units. For a drawing output suitable for 1 to 200 scale, I use the imperial linetypes, acad.lin, and a linetype scale factor of one. I find autocad's metric linetypes too confusing, with a scale factor of 25 times. As long as you know the repeat dimension of your linetypes, there should be no problem in setting a suitable scale factor. Quote
BIGAL Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 If you open up the acad.lin and look at the numbers you will see common values like 0.25 0.375 0.125 these line types have been created around the feet values of 1/8" 1/4" 3/8" etc where as the metric line types take dashed it uses 25.4 & 12.7 this is basicly a convert from feet again 1" = 25.4 mm. The simplest way is use either and just change LTSCALE to what you want a little bit of trial and error Quote
MEPGuy Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks for the replies. So if I change the "global scale factor" in the "LTSCALE" Command dialogue box to 25.4 will that allow me to use The imperial line type file? I will give it a try and am glad to hear I don't need to retype The whole thing. Thanks again Quote
