Pedit problem

I am working with a subdivision in AutoCAD Civil 3D. It is a group project, and I am doing a horizontal alignment. In order to do this, I need to convert a road centerline that consists of other lines and curves into a polyline. However, when I try to do this using pedit, it says "Object selected is not a polyline", but does not ask me "Do you want to turn it into one?" What is going on here?

Perhaps its a spline. thats the usual response if you pedit a spline.

Try to use flatten on it first, or use the spl2pl lisp, its in the forum but i dont have a direct link, ill check later

I used flatten on it and it worked great.
