Thanks for adding the picture and trying to help. Still very confused! Here are pictures directly from the text book. And yes, we are using Autocad 2014.

In my opinion the diagram in the book contains erroneous information.

I wasn't aware I was being rude.

 

My statement means no matter what way you do it you won't be able to reproduce it exactly as shown in the book using the dimensions provided.

This is an awful drawing! Can you image trying to check the 0.390 dimension after the part was fabricated? As the Inventor version of the drawing that JD Mather made, several of the dimensions in the original drawing are wrong or redundant.
