akarees8080
Does anyone know why is it AutoCAD slows down dramatically when I have more than 2 drawings open at one time. When I only have one its fine. The drawings are not that particularly big either (2d plans under 2 MB) Cheers, Andrew AutoCAD 2014 LT:x Edited March 11, 2014 by akarees8080
ReMark
Could be any number of things. What are your full system specs? Are xrefs being used? Is there a great deal of hatching in the drawings?

ReMark
Your system specs look good. What do you have for a graphics board if I might ask? When did this problem first happen? Are you on a network or a standalone workstation?

ReMark
So you are using AutoCAD on a network. Where are the drawing files stored? On the network as well? When did you first start experiencing the problem?
Tuns
I've been having this exact problem too. It suddenly started about a month or two ago and hasn't stopped.
ReMark
Is hardware acceleration enabled? Have you tried temporarily disabling your anti-virus software?
Tuns
Yes hardware acceleration is enabled and the anti-virus doesn't have real time protection, though I don't know if that makes much difference.
ReMark
Did you... -disable the CommCenter? -turn off the display of digital signature? -check your file paths? -delete extraneous layer filters?
Tuns
Digital signature is turned off, the file paths look fine, and there are no layer filters. How do you disable the CommCenter? I can't seem to find it.
ReMark
The paths I would be concerned with would be those leading to your drawing files and any customizations that are stored on the network. Disable the CommCenter. Use this lisp by Owen Wengerd. Appload the routine then type DISABLEINFOCENTER at the command line. Tuns
This is the LT forum. Is it even possible to disable the CommCenter in LT or is it not even available in LT?
ReMark
LT...Dang it. Sorry about that. You need the AcadInfoCenterOff.msi file. Start with this link.... http://otb.manusoft.com/2010/11/disable-autocad-infocenter.htm/comment-page-
Tuns
Don't worry about it. Thanks for the link I'll check it out and tell you if it helps any.

Tuns
Well, it is certainly not nearly as bad as it used to be. It isn't 100% smooth but it's at least at a tolerable speed now. Thank you for that ReMark it helped a lot!
Tuns
Akarees, did the problem start recently or has it been continuous since installation?

ReMark
Any other problems with the way the program works? Any error messages? System lockups? Lagging mouse input? Have you tried putting the drawing files on your desktop and working with them from there? Anyone else where you work using AutoCAD and having the same type of problem?
