fishwater71 Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 To make sure the centerlines were correct in relation to the ellipse I thought you might find it easier to draw a rectangle first and then place the ellipse inside it. I did not expect you to do the opposite. Orthomode keeps lines straight whether drawn vertically or horizontally. Re: linetype. Did you load one of the Center linetypes yet? If so I would create a separate layer called Centerlines, assign it a color other than white, and assign one of the center linetypes to the layer. Do you know how to do this? Deleted all and started fresh....did the rectangle, center lines and ellipse. Much easier so far....thanks. I have not loaded a centerline yet. Not sure how to do all that you said above. Quote
ReMark Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Making progress I see. To load a linetype. Command: LTYPE At the Linetype Manager window click on the Load button. Scroll through the list of available linetypes until you see Center, Center2 and CenterX2. Pick one (perhaps Center2). Click the OK button to exit the second window. Click the OK button a second type to exit the first window. The linetype is now available to you to either 1) assign to a layer or 2) to assign to a line(s) in your drawing by overriding the default Continuous linetype. This can be accomplished via the Properties palette. Quote
Dana W Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I was typing while I was being made redundant. I'll just hang back and maybe pick up some slack if things lull down. The dog needs too be played with anyway. Quote

Dana W Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Dana: Feel free to step in at any time. I'll hand things over to you with no problem. No, no. It's not a problem at all. I want to back out a little. I still have to look most of the stuff up and It gets kinda tedious at times for me actually. I want to make sure a newbie gets the commands right and I don't even use them. I was sort of self taught on the toolbars and I don't know what most of the commands even are. Quote
fishwater71 Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 I am trying to upload file of what I have so far.....still having issues. Can one of you help me get my picture up here. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 First click on the Go Advanced button below the bottom right hand corner of the Quick Reply window. At the next screen click on the Attach Image icon. Browse to your file's location and upload it. Once uploaded it can be inserted into the reply window. Add a brief description of the problem then post it. Quote
fishwater71 Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 Still having issues on how or where to start the circles for this l-shaped thing. Attached is what I have. slotted ellipse pg190. (1).dwg Quote
ReMark Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 The distances to the centers of the two semi-circles having a radius of .25 can be quickly calculated from the diagram in exercise 4.11. It is just plain math. The upper semi-circle's centerpoint is 1.75 units to the right of the vertical centerline of the ellipse and 0.5 units down from the horizontal centerline of the ellipse. The lower semi-circle's centerpoint is 0.75 units to the right of the vertical centerline of the ellipse and 1.5 units down from the horizontal centerline of the ellipse. BTW...you have four small line segments that are either on or under the main centerlines for your ellipse. Not sure why that is. Quote
fishwater71 Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 Thanks again Remark.....I am working on a couple now. Hoping to get this one done. Very much appreciate the help. Mike. Quote
