MillerMG Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Currently using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Drawing site plans. Need to bring in a table from Excel. No problem doing so. I see there is an edit option that can use either Excel formatting or custom. I need to use Excel's formatting but I need my text that the company uses. It's "hand" text archD. Is there a quick and easy way to change the styles? I know that the cells have to be unlocked to edit but it takes forever and will not allow me to select hand text archD style. If I edit each cell its ends up taking at least two hours to edit the table. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Quote
Dana W Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Hopefully, the imported table came in with one of the table styles defined in your drawing, if not it may have generated one of its own. Either way, Select the table, type the command Properties, and look in the Table heading for which table style your table is using. Esc out of all that. Then type the command Tablestyle, select your table style from the list that appears when the table style dialog box opens, click the Modify button. Go to the text tab and select the text style you wish to use in the table. Then click OK, then click Close. Your table text should now be in the style you wish it to be. It may take running the regen or regenall commands to get the text to visually change on screen. Quote
MillerMG Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks for the quick reply. I will check that out as soon as I'm done with this site plan. Ended up just manually drawing a table to get if finished Quote
Dana W Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Well, if it works my suggestion might have only taken a total of 30 seconds. Two things I am not sure of, one is how different C3D is than vanilla AutoCad, and the other is what AutoCad does to imported excel tables. I am assuming it simply applies the 'current' or first listed table style to it by default, but maybe not. Quote
MillerMG Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 When I say sub type I'm talking about the font of that style. So it would be STYLE: hand FONT: archd. Quote
Dana W Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 It must be the Excel formatting and C3D commands, because I have never heard of "sub type'. Also that font is apparently not standard, but I guess you already have it on your machine. I guess I will stand back and let someone more knowledgeable take over. Quote
