hvitost Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hi guys I am starting a new project now, and for the simplicity of it i want to use one of my old "templates" to start drawing in, because of dimension styles, layers and all that. But somehow, in this drawing there are some red lines that i cant delete? I cant even get a hold of them and move them. This is something that followed a drawing from an architecht. It does not show up in prints, but i want it gone anyway Adding a couple of screenshots to show you. Its a little hard to see, but if i zoom in further, it disappears! I have now tried to delete and purge almost everything, but its still there! Does anybody know what this is? Quote
MSasu Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Those entities may be in a locked, not-printable layer. Do you get a message when attempt to erase them? A simple REGEN call may also help you get rid of them. May help also to call AUDIT and choose Yes to fix errors query. Quote
hvitost Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Hi, thanks for the suggestions. But no, i dont get any messages, because i cant even mark them..? Its like its not drawn, but its there anyway, heh... I also see this in the layouts, but not on my prints. Ive tried deleted all my layers, but it still wont go away. Tried REGEN and AUDIT now but that does not work either. Quote
MSasu Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Then, may want to erase the other content and attach the trouble-maker drawing here; maybe someone will be able to point the problem. Quote
dbroada Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I'm inclined to think it's a hardware problem if you can't do anything with them. Quote
ReMark Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Let's cut to the chase shall we? Attach a copy of the DWG file to your next post. Someone here will take a look at it. Quote
Dadgad Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Bring them on we say, I will be quite surprised if somebody doesn't come up with a solution! Quote
dbroada Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 my system shows then as being text but as you say, I can't select them manually. They do however purge here or can be removed by QSELECTing all the TEXT in the drawing and deleting them. I suspect something left over from a deleted block. Quote
dbroada Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 further test seem to confirm that they are just left over from something in the past. They disappear if I purge ANYTHING. Quote

QSELECT was a new command to me, but it worked, thanks! No more irritation, for now Quote
Dadgad Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Strange , but as Dave did, I got rid of them with the -purge command. I was unable to identify them, other than a couple were points, and all were on the other objects layer. EKS fixed.dwg Quote
Murph_map Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 This may been part of it "Non Autodesk DWG. This DWG file was saved by a software application that was not developed or licensed by Autodesk. Autodesk cannot guarantee the application compatibility or integrity of this file." And what I saw when I opened the dwg. Quote
hvitost Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Yeah, it was originally not a dwg-file. I think it was a Tekla-file(?) that was converted into a dwg. What you see there is a part of my new drawing that i left in the file to make it a bit easier to see the red lines. I cant seem to get PURGE to work, but im not an PURGE-expert either. QSELECT worked fine this time, som im happy! Thanks guys Quote
ReMark Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 What are you trying to purge? I always recommend the command line version which is proceeded by a dash like this... -purge First purge Regapps. Then repeat the command, -purge, and do a purge > All. Follow that up by running Audit and have AutoCAD fix any problems it finds. Quote
hvitost Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 Hmm, im not quite sure. I purged "All items" by clicking the "Purge all" button... As i wrote earlier, i havent been using purge that much, so i dont know where to find regapps? Quote
ReMark Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Look at my previous instructions. See the words "command line"? You can only run the -purge command from the command line. AutoCAD will give you a list of options. One of those options is Regapps, short for Registered Applications. Quote
Tiger Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Sidenote: You can use Design Center to copy Layers, Dimstyles, Mleader styles and such from your old drawing to a brand spanking new one. The risk is, if you have trouble with the drawing now, you will have trouble with it down the line. Quote
hvitost Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Ahh, -purge, not purge! Thanks, that works when -purge All. Tiger: Is that a better way than using an empty drawing with dimstyles and layers saved? Have been reading up on this and im gonna try it when i've got the time Quote
ReMark Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 The better way is to create a drawing template file with everything you need, such as layers, text styles, dim styles, etc. already set up. Quote
