Hello once again!

Today's exciting question is:

When transferring incoming drawings over to the new layers, I'm having some problems with the blocks that the client has placed in their drawings. It seems that when they created their blocks, a fair amount of the lines used were not placed on the "0" layer, or they created lines for the block that have a different color than the rest of the lines (as opposed to just changing the color on the "0" layer). One of my co-workers believes that there is a ways to force these items to go tothe layer and color I have specified in the layer translator for these blocks, however, I have not been able to locate that command, nor can he remember what it is.

Normally I would be inclined to go in and do a "BEDIT" and just change those layers myself, however I have been asked not to make any changes to the blocks in that regard. And bursting or exploding the blocks is not in the list of "acceptable" options for our company either.

I'm open to any suggestions, just trying to reduce the amount of project time on clean-up of drawings and increase output time on production.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I am currently using AutoCAD 2009.

Maybe your co-worker was thinking of the command XPLODE, where you can specify object properties, such as the layer, linetype, and color of objects when exploding a block.

If you want to keep the blocks as blocks, then it is not the command to use

it is from the similar threads at the bottom of this thread. if not look other similar threads, this has been discussed many times.

Thanks Dipali. I found what I was looking for (I hope). I'm not sure why I didn't find it in my earlier searches. Thank you!!

Nah wasn't XPLODE. All blocks included in external drawings must remain as received.

Besides, I'm not a fond proponent of XPLODE most of the time. I prefer BURST when it comes to that.

Thanks tho! :)
