Dimensioning w/ Text

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to dimension with text? For example, instead of Cad automatically giving a measurement I'd like to be prompted for text.

I've edited the dimension after it was made but I was hoping for an easier process.

Thanks for any help.

Nick

changing dimassoc value '0' will give you desired result.

But it will result into exploded dimension so the dimension ticks & extension lines & dimension lines all will be seprate line objects.

but it is not good practice to creat exploded dimensions or text overrides.

Thanks a lot dipali.

I'm labeling groups of trusses on a truss plan and the measurements are not necessary. I'd rather not explode the dimensions but it seems CAD is not giving me a choice.

If you have any other suggestions please let me know.

As you dimension you can right click and select Text or Mext.

A menu macro could be used to pick the points and AutoCAD default to the text option and prompt you for the text.

Yes Or you can select desired dims - open properties and overide the Dims with your References. This can be done with multiple dimensions with the same references.

Text overide is one of my best friends!

Keep it simple, keep it clean. 8)
