Karynlisa99
Hi, I have just downloaded the new 2015 AutoCAD lt, and I like to edit two of my hotkeys but can't remember how to do it. That is change the actual hot keys Please can someone refresh my memory. thanks
Dadgad
I believe that you want to go to your CUIX, and peruse and redefine the circled items in KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS. I use Autocad Vanilla, not LT, but I am guessing this will be the same.
Karynlisa99
Hi, thanks for that, but these are the shortcut keys, which require "CTRL" before. I want to change the hotkeys, when I type CO which is short for Copy, I want to change this to just C I keep looking thanks anyway..
CaddJax
Use the Manage Tab and then the record feature or you can Edit Aliases if you're doing a lot of changes. The bottom of this message is a list of the one's that I use which allows me to essentially shut down the ribbon and keeps all of my commands within easy reach of only my left hand. Left on the keyboard, right on the mouse. Once you get the hang of it, you'll fly. Good luck. Karynlisa99
Hi Jaddjax, thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I have found the Manage Tab and the Edit Aliases, however can't figure out how to actually edit the keys. Have tried just changing for example CO - C, -& C - CI, and saving but this doesn't seem to work? What am I missing? thanks
CaddJax
Then the quick fix for you would be to use the record button, type 'copy' in the command line then stop recording. The next screen that pops up will allow you to edit the details. Type 'c' into the file name and then hit ok. Restart AC and all should be set. Dadgad
In LT you will not find the ALIASEDIT command, because it is an EXPRESS TOOL, likely the same with the RECORD option. On the Tool Bar Menu, down near the bottom you can find Customize > Edit Program Parameters .pgp > click on that and it will tke you to the list of standard autocad shortcalls for commands. Scroll all the way down that list, until you see the section for user customizations, which is what Caddjax is showing you in his post. Make the changes there, not at the top because if you do, they will not migrate at a later date. This area is for personal customizations and it overrides any of the default ones you will see listed above. Be sure to follow the formatting style of the list, and SAVE when you are through, or they will be lost. In Autocad Vanilla we can do it with ALIASEDIT, on the fly, which is nice. I suggest you also make a copy of all your customizations with NOTEPAD copy and paste, and save it somewhere you are confident that it will not be lost. The ribbon image in the snip is from Autocad Vanilla 2013, not sure if it will help you or not.
