blocks and bedit

Since signing up to this forum, i hear a lot about blocks and bedit, can some one fill me in as to what this is, how its used, and what its useful for?

 

I know there are sure to be loads of things i have no idea what they are or how they are used, but this one seems rather commonly used.

From the AutoCAD help file:

A block is one or more objects combined to create a single object. Blocks help you reuse objects in the same drawing or in other drawings.

 

The Block Editor is a separate environment for creating and changing block definitions for the current drawing. You can also use it to add dynamic behavior to blocks.

I recommend you read over the help files provided with autocad first, also check out some online tutorials like this one:
